Principles of prayer
1. Pray for open doors:
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. Pray also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ ... so I opened it as I ought to speak"(Col. 4: 2-3)
You cannot always be sure that doors and hearts open themselves. Many missionaries work in countries with limited access for foreigners or in areas where people resist the spread of the Gospel. And even where the doors are open, closed to the adoption of the gospel are the hearts of men.
Praise God for his opening doors for STEP among various communities, churches and languages groups Continue to remember for STEP ministry for more opportunity among new people groups and churches. Pray for the government and those who are in authority to be more friendly for the spreading of the gospel.
Pray for those who are already in the service of the Lord and for God's guidance.
2. Pray for boldness evidence:
"Pray ... and for me, that I was given the word - open my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel" (Eph. 6:19)
Why do we need to pray for boldness of the missionaries? It is necessary that they:
Serve effectively in the situation of another culture and language.
To overcome the resistance of evil forces.
To overcome the fear of difficulties and failure.
3. Pray for the dissemination of the Word of God:
"So pray for us, brethren, that the word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified, even... with you " (2 Thess. 3: 1)
When the Word of God spread rapidly, all obstacles are eliminated. It is necessary to resist the devil, who always try to prevent the spread of the Word of God (Jas. 4: 7). Just as Aaron and Hur supported Moses' hands during the battle with Amalek (Ex. 17:12), you can keep the weak hands of missionaries in your prayers. Remember, this is - the fight against the spiritual forces that can attack from either side (Eph. 6: 10-18).
4. Pray for protection:
Pray for us to get rid of the wicked and evil men, for not all have faith (2 Thess. 3: 2)
Pray that the Lord protection for Christian workers from those who might harm them.
Pray that God will change the hearts of those who resist His Word and strengthen those to who professed the gospel.
5. Pray for their ministry:
Pray ... that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints (Rom. 15:31)
Collaboration and partnership are the main principles of service, they are necessary to advance the works ahead.
Pray that the ministry of STEP and missionaries and their personal life and commitment be worthy of acceptance.
Pray for the missionaries to get cooperation and supports from the new believers and communities whom they're serving.
6. Pray for God's guidance:
Pray that I may be in the joy of the will of God, I come to you and calm you (Rom. 15:30)
Many missionaries have to travel frequently. It happens that the travel associated with dangers and stressful situations.
Pray for the protection of missionaries and God's provision for their needs.
Pray for the STEP members for God's guidance in their planning and for their travels.
7. Pray for the restoration of for Pray that I may be in the joy of the will of God, I come to you and calm you (Rom. 15:32)
Pray for missionaries to seek and receive recuperation of the Holy Spirit.
Pray that they will learn to give spiritual support, reading the Word of God and turning to the Lord in prayer.
"Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me" (Rom. 15:30)
The Apostle Paul was a missionary and a man of prayer. He prayed for those who have lived without Christ, to those who believed and new churches created as a result of his ministry. But he also asked the faithful to pray for him.
As we participate in prayers with those who are called to serve as missionary, your prayers contribute a lot to the ministry of missionaries. Paul's Prayer can be an example for a simple and effective prayer.
Mission "STEP" in need of your prayers.
Prayer - is not just a supplement to the work of STEP. Prayer must come first, because no matter how good the technology of ours, whatever may be our qualitative methods and how strong and deep are our dedication, all this does not bring any results, if God Himself would not participate in our works.
